This Sunday at Cedar Grove

This Sunday we learn to get off the bench and into the game. We will explore the third dimension of God’s Will, His Commissioned will. Remember the words of the apostle Paul?

Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the will of God –Eph. 1:1

It turns out that God has a spot for all of us. He has uniquely gifted us to serve Him and it’s up to us to learn about how God wants to use us. We are on the team, so we learn to play our positions and we learn to play as a team.
Here’s some Scripture to read: Romans 12:3-8; 1 Corinthians 12:4-7; and 1 Peter 4:10, 11.

Extra credit reading is Ephesians 4:7-16. Extra credit means you will find it valuable and we won’t get to that passage on Sunday.

Get ready for a couple surprises. We’ll see you on Sunday.

Kickoff weekend at Cedar Grove

Please join us this Sunday for a Kick Off Weekend at Cedar Grove. We will be kicking off our new sermon series Living Free in the Will of God.

We can have mixed feelings about the will of God.  Sometimes we want to know it and other times we wish we didn’t.  I wonder what Noah thought when he discovered the will of God for his life.  It must have been amazing to hear the voice of God say, “Noah, I love you and I have an idea to float by you.”  God helped Noah build a boat that saved his family.

Jonah was one that wished he didn’t know God’s will.  Believing that God was full of mercy for the lost, and knowing that he hated the Ninevites (the Assyrian nation was noted for extreme cruelty to its enemies), Jonah used a boat to try to save himself.  It didn’t work.  Funny how God’s will comes with great responsibility and great freedom.

Jesus spent some time on boats.  Sometimes catching up with his men, sometimes catching a few z’s…, but always teaching about the power and will of God. More than once Jesus would say, “For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.” (John 6:38)

This Sunday I’m starting a series of messages entitled, Living Free in the Will of God.  We will take a look at God’s will from His perspective.  We will discover some surprises along the way, but our goal is to learn to live so as to “test and approve what God’s will is–His good, pleasing and perfect will.”  (Romans 12:2)

Invite a friend.  The messages will be straight talking truth mixed with some challenging steps of faith and obedience.

Immediately following the 10:45 a.m. service, at noon, please join us for a great BBQ  lunch on the front lawn. We’ll have great food and fellowship as a church family.

See you on Sunday.

Hello world!

Welcome to Life in the Grove. With this first post on our new blog, we start a new adventure in communication for our church family. We intend to increase the frequency and depth of communication at Cedar Grove, and perhaps through the comments build a sense of shared community.

It’s our goal to provide vision casting with a regular reinforcement of our mission: reach… teach… release…

We want to build interest for the worship/teaching services, provide timely news of church events and affairs, and talk about serving one another and our community.
