This Sunday at Cedar Grove

The Love of God! That’s what Christmas is all about. God demonstrated His love for us in that while we were sinners Christ was born in a manger, in order to die on a cross, so He could be raised to life, so He could be our Lord and Savior.

The heart of God has been to demonstrate His love to the world. Sadly the world is confused about God’s love and it’s up to God’s people to present a clear picture of God’s love to the world.

Jesus explains God’s love. Jesus clarifies God’s love. Jesus shows us how to respond to God’s love.

Let’s gather together Sunday morning for a Grand Christmas Celebration of God’s Love.

Remember, we will worship together in one service at 10:45 am.

Please come early and enjoy conversation with others in the church family over a cup of coffee.

It’s a Wonderful Life

How do I know? Because that’s the title of the play performed by the King’s Players this weekend at Cedar Grove. I hope that you have invited friends and neighbors to come. This well-known story provides a prompt for assessing life and what is important. You’ll have plenty of fuel for spiritual conversations with your friends.

I admit however that the title of the play has me thinking about assessing my own life. How wonderful is it? How will I make such a determination? This Sunday morning we will look to God’s Word to show us the earmarks of a wonderful life from God’s perspective.

This Sunday we conclude our study of the life of David—the Ancient King of Israel, worship leader and military champion. David’s heart for God has inspired us and captured our passion for the same experience in our own life. We have marveled at his courage to face giants. We have feared for him as others tried to end his life. We have groaned as David made some choices that were devastating to the lives of others.

Take a look at 2 Samuel 23: 1-7. These are the last words of David. Probably not the last words he spoke. It was just a personal assessment of his life as he neared the end. See what you can learn about how David measured the “Wonderful” factor. Perhaps it will inspire you to start the assessment now.

Looking forward to a wonderful day of worship.

Register for the PathLight course

Starting January 12, we will be offering a very special 6-week course called PathLight. Every Monday night during this time will bring a different speaker, each with an exciting and unique ministry taking the gospel around the world or into a local urban mission field. The course also includes activities and written material that lay out the biblical, historical, strategic, cultural, and partnership aspects of God’s plan for the world and how He is carrying it out. The speakers, activities, and material are all aimed at helping you see how God is working around the world and recognizing your own unique role in cooperating with God to fulfill His purposes. The cost for this course is $110. There is a table in the lobby at church with registration info or you can talk to Carolyn Bailey or Carolyn Pura for more information.
